As the weather improves we will be enjoying lots of outdoor sports as part of our curriculum. Here are a few ideas for your child to get even more involved in sport over the summer months.
Appleton Cricket Club on Lyons Lane, (up a hidden track just by the rusty telegraph pole) train on a Thursday evening. From YrR upwards for boys and girls. Appleton is the only club that can offer a dedicated girls team with many of their girls going on to represent Cheshire. Contact Sue Barlow on 01925 265738 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Warrington CC is the biggest club in the area and offers separate training sessions for under 7’s, under 9’s and under 11’s. This season they are offering the chance for the whole family to stay and have a drink and bbq during training on a Friday evening.
For more information contact Ian Buttress on 01928 712511 or email email@example.com
There are also cricket clubs in Grappenhall and Lymm so take your pick.
Cheshire Cricket offer a week long summer course for all levels (10-15 August for age 8 upwards) but they would encourage all juniors to join their local club first. Players with aptitude will be encouraged to participate in advanced Cheshire training courses that can lead to representing your county.
In addition, parents don’t need to feel left out. All cricket clubs offer senior cricket for men and women too, from beginner to first team level.
You don’t need any special equipment to begin with, not even a bat, just take yourself in a pair of trainers along to a training session and have a go.
Are you the next Usain Bolt or Jessica Ennis?
OR if you fancy a go at athletics then you can pop along to Warrington Athletics Club at Victoria Park, Warrington. The facilities are fantastic and it’s only £1 per session. What are you waiting for? Runners, jumpers and throwers all welcome.
Sessions run on a Monday and Thursday from 6-7pm for ages 8-11
