Volunteers are wanted to assist in the Mothering Sunday Assembly which is organised by school.

We need a couple of mums, ideally from the upper years, to help with arranging the flowers and serving teas and cakes. If you have some free time on the morning of the 24th March or can help set up the teas/cakes from 1.30pm onwards then we would be delighted to hear from you.

Sports Day - Friday 19th May 2017
The Refreshments Marquee is up and running on Sports Day which is held on Friday 19th May at 1.15pm on the school field. Lots of helpers are needed to serve sandwiches, cakes, teas, coffees and cold drinks to all those who have come straight from work, or just ambled along to watch our wonderful children give it their very best.
If you are able to help set up equipment from 12 noon or help serve refreshments, or indeed help to pack away at the end of the day, it would be so much appreciated. Please send your contact details to email@example.com.
The Father's Day Afternoon and Assembly for Year R, Year 1, Year 2, is great fun and the children just love to have their Fathers/Grand-Fathers/Carers around to show off their talents in class or on the sports field.
Please be aware that the Father's Day Afternoon is for all Fathers/Grand-Fathers/Carers from Year R to Year 6, but the Assembly is just for those associated with Year R, Year 1, and Year 2. All years are then joined together for refreshments once the Assembly has ended. Timings to be confirmed.
Help is required for set-up and running of the refreshments stall, and of course, tidying away.
If you are free on this afternoon then please again, send your contact details to firstname.lastname@example.org.
This is by far the PTA's and the schools biggest event of the year.
It is a fantastic day and enjoyed by many not just from St Matthew's School and St Matthew's Church but also from the wider community. There is much to be done!
More than ever, this is the one that requires 'all hands on deck'. It can't be done with just a few people, it needs volunteers right across the board. From setting up the marquees and tables in the early morning, setting up stalls, cooking in the kitchen, manning stalls and tidying away at the end of a very busy, exhausting and yet fun-filled day.
However, long before the day of Saturday 15th July commences, there is a whole list of things to be organised: raffle prizes and sponsorship to be sourced; raffle tickets to be sold; leaflets to be designed, printed and distributed in the area; newsletters to be composed; banners to be erected; food to be ordered; stall prizes organised; field activities to be booked... and the list goes on.
Most of those who have been involved in organising and running the events on the day ... wouldn't miss the opportunity to do it all again each and every year, as their children have moved through the school from Year R to Year 6. It is now time for a whole new set of parents to make this day their own..... have their input, bring in fresh ideas, make it a fun-filled special time for their children.
If this is something you wish to participate in, do get in touch - anything at all would be helpful.
It would also be tremendous to hear from you if you can donate raffle prizes or sponsor a stall.
Nearer the date, Rotas will be, as usual, put up outside classrooms - when they are up, please do add your name to a time slot. If there are no helpers, there cannot be any stalls.
However, I know that those parents/carers at St Matthew's will not disappoint, and the Summer Fair will be, just so fabulous (with sunshine!!).
YOUR CHILDREN NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
In 2015/16, together we raised an amazing £11,324.50 which couldn't have been achieved without the wonderful support of everyone in our school community. Thank you all.
The 2016/17 Committee will once again pledged to raise those much needed funds but cannot achieve this without your help but in order to take this forward the PTA requires a Chair and Treasurer.
As you will know the school budget is very tight and just cannot stretch to provide everything our children need to help them thrive in a happy learning environment.
The PTA reinvest, the funds raised, into school to buy the extras that really do make a difference to our children.
How Can You Help?
A lot of work goes on behind the scenes for all events and school support and we are always looking for new innovative fresh ideas, so if you would like to get involved in any way at all, it would be greatly appreciated. From serving tea and coffee, organising an event, locating raffle prizes, baking cakes, helping on Christmas Stalls, attending Summer Fair Meetings, shopping for refreshments etc. Every little helps and you would be more than welcome, so please do get in touch.
You can email: or speak to your Class Representatives or simply come along to a meeting or coffee morning.
How Can I Raise Funds?
There are some very simple and easy ways to raise funds:
PTA Calendar 2015/16
PTA Agenda 2015/16
PTA Meeting Minutes

Please read our newsletters to find out more a bout what's happening.

Christmas Stalls - Friday 4th December
A huge thank you goes to Julie Dagnall, Louise Crawford, Year 1 mums and all those who helped in any way to put on the Christmas Stalls. The cold damp afternoon wasn't going to put anyone off coming along and having fun. The mulled wine certainly helped to warm a few hands along the way, and the children made straight for the chocolate tombola which went down a storm raising an incredible £302.85.
The Christmas Stall together with the raffles on the Nativity days made a whopping total of £1,714.99.
It couldn't have been achieved without the generosity of so many, so thank you to everyone who came along to support the event and to all those who donated raffle prizes, cakes, chocolates, wine, manned stalls, set-up and tidied away again.
Special thanks go to Jim, our DJ, who volunteers his time so readily each year and adds to the occasion with his Christmas songs.
