Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

At St Matthew's we understand that all children are unique  and we know that some children will require support in specific ways to enable them to continue to learn, progress and be happy at school.

As recommended in the SEND Code of Practice, we offer a graduated model of action and intervention to help pupils who have special educational needs and disabilties at Stretton St Matthew’s CE Primary.   Please contact Mrs Williams (our Inclusion Manager) for further information.

This approach recognises that there is a continuum of special educational need and disability.  Where necessary, increasing specialist expertise will be brought to bear on the difficulties that a child may be experiencing, therefore ensuring progressively more powerful interventions can be used to meet increasing need.  This model also allows the range, type and intensity of interventions to be reduced as children make sufficient progress
